Frankfort Police Department Plan National Night Out

Special to Capital Living

On Tuesday, August 3, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Second Street School the Frankfort Police Department will conduct National Night Out. This program will be conducted nationwide to strengthen police and community partnerships for crime prevention. In announcing this program, Police Chief Walter Wilhoite says, “This is an excellent venue to show a united front with the police and the community they serve, to the commitment to fight and prevent crime, violence and drugs, in order to elevate the quality of life for Frankfort to the highest level possible.”

This program involves police, community and service organizations and businesses and neighborhood groups getting together for an evening to showcase free and available community resources.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend this event, which in addition to the informational opportunities, will provided child identification and fingerprint cards and proper child car seat installation procedures.

In addition, at this same time the Frankfort Police, Franklin County Health Department and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration will conduct their third “Medication Retrieval Program”. This is an opportunity for the public to dispose of unwanted, expired and unused prescription medications in a manner sanctioned by Kentucky Department of Waste Management and the Environmental Protection Agency.

For additional information, or if your group or organization would like to participate, contact Police Chief Walter Wihoite or Major Fred Deaton at 502.875.8523 or email fdeaton@Frankfort.ky.gov.
