You can do it!
Getting ready to run the Black Cat Chase

by Zack Hall, Contributing Columnist

The 2010 MainSource Bank Black Cat Chase is just around the corner on October 29! This event has truly become a race for everyone. Elite runners and athletes that run every day are mixed in with families, walkers and people just socializing. Last year almost 1200 participants finished the 3.1 mile course in times ranging from 15 minutes 10 seconds for our winner to over 69 minutes for our “Caboose.”

I’m sure some of you reading this are thinking there it no way you could complete this, but I can assure you that you can do it! Just follow the training schedule here and you will be ready to participate in the Black Cat Chase.

Just a beginner? You will need only 13 hours in those six weeks and you can be on your way to a healthier lifestyle. It doesn’t sound like much, but you have to commit to that amount. What do you need? Athletic shoes.

Already exercising? Then you’ll need to dedicate more time to improve your fitness level.  This still can be done in just 16 hours in six weeks. Just refer to this sample training program for you to follow. Find a partner and get going!

This community event will again support the Frankfort YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. Through the tremendous support of our sponsors over 50 percent of your registration fee ($15 for early registration, $20 race day) will go to this great cause.
